성동훈의 본능적 풍자

성동훈의 조각은 오늘날에 여전히 필요한 풍자와 해학의 끈을 놓지 않는다. 돈키호테 시리즈로 시작된 그의 블랙유머는 비판적 해학이기보다 민중의 걸쭉한 농지거리처럼 직접적이고 본능적인 것이다. 용광로 슬러지(sludge)를 질료로 사용한 최근의 그의 조각 실험은 철의 모태로서의 원초적 질료의 질감과 무게감을 고스란히 전해 준다.

Instinct Sarcasms by Sung Donghun
His sculptures are not far away from the  sarcasm and humor that are still needed these days. His black humor that started with his Don Quixote series is rather instinctive like thick jests ofthe populace. His recent sculptural experiment uses sludge from blast furnaces as a material, which gives almost the same feelings as the texture and weight of iron as a matrix.
