이지수의 푸른 풍경

이지수는 어스름한 해질녘 혹은 달빛 아래의 새벽처럼 희미한 풍경을, 장지 위에 푸른 안료를 풀어, 한가득 올려놓는다. 작가가 만드는 ‘개와 늑대의 시간’ 속에서 풀잎, 하늘, 땅은 뒤섞이며 하나가 된다. ‘사물을 판별할 수 없는’ 불명료한 시공간이 우리에게 주는 선물이다. 바람에 몸을 실은 풀잎들의 아우성치는 소리는 이미지가 선사하는 환청(幻聽)이다. 그녀는 우연과 필연 사이에서 기억을 지우고 되살리는 푸른 안료를 손으로 매만지고 문지른다. 그래서일까? 몸의 언어가 부스러진 작가의 푸르디푸른 풍경은 희뿌연 유령 혹은 검은 그림자처럼 자리하면서 현실의 풍경이기보다 심상(心像)의 풍경으로 자리한다.

Blue Landscapes by Lee Jisu
Lee puts indistinct landscapes such as the dim dusk or the dawn under the moonlight fully on Korean papers with blue pigment. In ‘the time of dogs and wolves’ created in her work, blades of grass, the sky and the earth are mixed and become one, which is a present to us given by vague space and time where it is hard to distinguish things. The image gives an auditory hallucination, the roaring sound of the blades of grass swayed by winds. She touches and scrubs the blue pigment that erases and recalls memories between fortuity and inevitability. Possibly as a result, her vividly blue landscape arises as a landscape of mental image rather than of reality, like a blurry looking ghost or dark shadow.
